The art of sport - The Boston Globe
An intriguing article about the art that is within sport. Some is perceptual and other is of "pure aesthetic", as some of my professors would say. There are moments of elegance in any sport, but we wonder how much of it is percieved as beautiful, or simply "cool". Perhaps these are interchangeable terms with the sports watching public. Perhaps they see the beauty after the fact. There are moments of athletics that have inspired art since the Greeks, but is the athletic itself now the art in the contemporary world?
