In War Debate, Parents of Fallen Are United Only in Grief - New York Times

This article stirs a debate between fallen soldiers parents regarding the protest or support of the war. The supporters talk about how all of them have signed up for the military, and no draft has been instituted. I agree, except I would like to know when certain individuals signed up for the military. Part of the incentive to join (in peace time) is the military pays for a large part of education, which many people cannot afford. They do not sign up for war, but for better opportunities through education that they cannot obtain in any other fashion.

Perhaps Mrs. Sheehan should clarify how or why her son became involved with the military so that those that feel they have lost soldiers honorably are not offended.
