100 Mile Diet: Local Eating for Global Change

I came across this through the blog Abstract Dynamics who was talking about the irony of common "anti-global" movements. The 100 diet was sited as a less cynical and more probable introduction of localization in current times. I wonder how possible it would be to do this in New York City. Local Stories show that a few locals in New Brunswick (about 45 minutes from NYC) are making a good attempt, but in small attempts such as only lunch and one dinner party. In a city where everything is imported, I think it would be very hard to realize this diet, but if more people were to try it would have a very positive impact upon not only their diets but also the local environment and economy.
